Frequently Asked Question and Answers
Can I transfer my existing collection into TrainTracker 5.5?
Yes.  You will be asked if there are any prior version of TrainTracker to convert when installing.  You can convert from ALL VERSIONS of TrainTracker.

Once I am successfully using TT5 can I un-install my older
version(s)?

Yes.  It is safe to un-install older versions of TrainTracker.

Can I still obtain technical support in regards to my TrainTracker 1.x, 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x?
Yes.  We offer free technical support for our current products. If you are having a problem with an older version, you will find that upgrading to the current version will most likely resolve it. If you decide not to update, you can still receive technical support for the obsolete versions of TrainTracker.

I’ve built my own homemade database. Can this information be imported into the TrainTracker, or will I need to re-enter all that information?
No.  Unfortunately, our program does not have the capability to import. Everyone uses a different method of data entry, supporting all of these methods, and supporting people attempting to use would be a massive effort. However, because of the catalog information available and dropdown menus in the program, the process will be much simpler than you may imagine.

Can I make a backup of my holdings?
yes.  We cannot stress enough the importance of this step. Before and after making any changes, please make a backup of your files. If you do not do so, there is no recourse in helping you should your computer hiccup or crash. One can never be too paranoid about making new backups.
1.Open the TrainTracker program to the main screen and select Tools.

2.Click on Backup/Restore and then click on Backup holdings. Make sure that you have at least three floppies clean of data on hand.

3.The program will then do the rest of the backup for you, prompting you when it’s time to insert the next floppy. It’s a simple process, and should be repeated as often as necessary.

Can I obtain a demonstration version of your program(s)?
Yes.   Click here.   There is no time limit on the program, but it does limit you to 10 items. The demonstration version contains a small sample of the price guide information with full functionality.

Can I transfer my data from one computer to another?
Yes.  Use the backup and restore facility to move your collection from one computer to the other.

Do you plan to develop a Macintosh version of TrainTracker?
No.  There are no current plans to develop a Macintosh version.
